History In Our Mountains Museum, offers visitors a look at the Southern Appalachian Mountains History and its People. The Tour begins with a 30 minuite film, mainly about the coal fields of Southeren Appalchia. Walking into the 1700's with Indians and Settlers, Civil War and them most importantly The Life and Times of the miner. Our main goal at the Museum is to Honor the Coal Miner that we feel is long over due especially that of McDowell County, which at one time was the largest Coal producing County in the world.
