The West Virginia Autumn Festival in Sutton
Welcome to the West Virginia Autumn Festival website. The festival was founded in 1995 by Suzanne Wine and Sue Loyd. With the help of their husbands, Mark Wine and Fred Loyd, and the support of their children, Brittany Wine, Stephanie Wine, Fred Loyd II, Stacy Loyd, and Joshua Loyd, and members of their extended families, they have made their small festival a resounding success. These pages have been created to help you take a peek into what we do and why we do it.
Recently, the Wine family has left the festival but will always remain an honorary part of our event. We will miss them and wish them the best.

Why we have the Festival
. Sue and Suzanne came up with an idea to have a festival because their community was so small and had very little to offer the citizens in Burnsville, West Virginia. Burnsville is located in Braxton County and has a population estimated at close to 500. With the labor of their families and friends, like Darrell Brown, Kenny Graham, Steve Prince, Stanley Wine, Barbara Anson and several others, they were able to build a small stage with lighting on the field behind the local elementary school. The Board of Education and (then) principal of the school, Mr. Charles M. McCoy, gave their permission for the event, simply requesting that the school be able to use the stage when needed. We were thrilled to have a homesite for our event.
Sadly, that is no longer the case or opportunity because of Department of Educatiion insurance concerns and costs. We will always consider Burnsville our home even though our event may move from spot to spot as is deemed necessary for success and contnuance.
