Laurel Highlands River Tours, Inc.
Laurel Highlands River Tours & Outdoor Center welcomes you to our outdoor home. Family-owned and operated by your hosts, Linda and Mark McCarty, the company invites you to experience white water rafting at an adventure vacation level just for you. Through millions of river miles shared with guests, Laurel Highlands River Tours and your hosts helped develop today's white water rafting sport. Ralph McCarty, one of the pioneer river runners in the East, best summed up the balance between the river trip and nature when he said that rafting was the only sport he was aware of that not even a footprint is left behind
River Tours
Join us where it all started! In 1962, we began offering guided white water rafting trips and now we want to share our experiences with you. Being on the river is unlike any other outdoor experience out there. And so, our staff’s expertise is crafted around this unique experience.
Each river we run has its own magnetism and chemistry. Consider a serene and calm misty morning on the Middle Yough as you cast your fly line, or share a mildly challenging float trip with your family, exploring the majesty of this beautiful valley.
Perhaps you would enjoy the spontaneity and sheer fun of a run on the Lower Yough, where white water rafting began in the East. We were there in the early days, 38 years ago and still enjoy sharing the Lower Yough with you! We’ve introduced more than a quarter of a million guests to this wonderful experience. Come be our next!
The largest uncontrolled watershed in the East feeds the mighty Cheat River. Come with us in the spring when the Cheat River is arguably the most demanding river run in the East. Eleven miles of big pounding water courses through a canyon carved from the force of floods, moving you from the civilized world, to the thrill of you verses nature.
Looking for the extreme experience? There is no room for error on the Upper Yough. This river is tight and falling down, dropping over 100 feet per mile. It is a run the taker a special raft with a special guide. Only the experienced rafter should challenge this black diamond of river runs. It is a run of technique, power, and skill. An extreme experience you are not soon to forget!
