Mae Rose, their mother is having an operation, and duty dictates that one of them must come home and be an angel of mercy. Elana is sensitive to the judgment that she has more time on her hands since she is the "artist." Mary has a vacation planned with a married man and Bernadette's marriage is floundering and needs attention. With everyone home for Christmas, we learn more about the fears and disappointments that lie beneath their avoidance and witness a family bond that is sealed with a sense of humor, unconditional guilt, and a healthy dislike of barking dogs. Little Sorrows was one of six plays selected for a staged reading at The Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights at Virginia's Barter Theatre in 2005. Cast members are Robin Tywoniw, Wolf Knight, LucyYoungblood, Joe Mitchell, Karline Jenson, Dorothy Simkins and Dottie Kellison.
