ELKINS, WV Bordering the Shavers Fork/Cheat River and the Monongahela National Forest, our cottage is truly a private, relaxing retreat. The cottage, approx. 700 sq. feet, boasts two living areas – a bedroom and great room that can accommodate six people. A complete kitchen and bathroom are accompanied by dining and sitting areas. A 10x13 side porch is connected to a 12x30 deck overlooking the river’s edge. A gas grill and deck furniture make this a wonderful place to sit and read, eat a meal, take a nap or just watch the world go by. A TV, DVD player, microwave, coffee maker, kitchen dishes and utensils, games and all linens are provided. Visitors need only bring food and paper products. The cottage may be rented by the week or a minimum of two or three nights based on local events and availability. The local area provides plenty of paths to hike, fish to catch and trails to bike. Horseback riding, four excursion trains, antique and art/craft shops, seven movie screens and five annual events are all close at hand. Elkins boasts its own play house, Davis & Elkins College, the Augusta Heritage Program, a rail trail and many excellent restaurants. Seneca Rocks, Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks, Spruce and Bickle Knobs, Dolly Sods and four ski resorts (Canaan Valley, White Grass, Snowshoe Mountain & Timberline) provide days of activities.
